Another wineonline pot luck dip.

Not too lucky though, an average wine. Nice colour, obvious sedement, lots of berries.

Characterless unfortunately. I wondered how a red wine would progress in a Stel Cap bottle. It doesn’t. I could have guessed that.

The Stump Jump, d’Avenberg, Cabernet Sauvignon, 2011, McLaren Vale

Would I have bought this off the shelf? Probably not but I’m glad it came in the wineonline Pot Luck sale.
Earthy Cab Sav, lots of fruit, dry finish.

Nice philosophy, if you can read the label after a glass then you can have another glass. Named after a plough.

McGuigan Signature Shiraz 2014

A very potable easy drinking full bodied red from down under. Blueberry notes with an Aniseed finish.

One of the last wines to bear Brian McGuigan’s signature before he retired.

Cimarosa, Chardonnay Colombard, 2013

The Bartleys brought this to Dinner and once I got over my ABC aversion it proved to be quite nice.

Served very cold, this had a nice zing, with a bit of a buttery aftertaste which in not really to my taste.

Good value for money though I suspect and I bet the discounters will keep upping their game.

McGuigan Pinot Grigio 2012

Light and refreshing for the time of year. Clear taste of pear.

Apparently McGuigan wines sell more than 200K cases per year in Ireland which puts them into the top 10.

Like most things that come from the Loire, delicious. Lovely fruit & Acid, Tesco (obviously) on offer @ €9

 

 

Difficult. Tasted like the look on Lesley’s face when she switches on R4 Longwave to discover they’re covering the Cricket! Avoid. In fairness, it was too old but should have aged better.
