Vermentino, I Fiori, Pala, 2012

This Sardinian Vermentino was a pleasant find on the Wine List at Francinis in Castlemartyr. The Main course of the meal was included as part of our weekend package.

Very pale colour, tropical fruit nose with a slight cloying honey note in a zesty dry mineral delivery.

At €29 this was a bit steep like a lot of things in Castlemartyr. Nice 9 hole golf course on-site.

We plan to visit Cagliari – where the Azienda Agricola Pala is – and explore the southern part of Sardinia in the not too distant future.

A lovely crisp wine, very pale colour, nice minerality.

I guess Tesco gave this a listing because Jancis Robinson rates this as an excellent specimen of a Vermentino – the up and coming grape.
