A knockout red from south of Gigondas in the Rhone.

Chateau de Caraguilhes, Corbieres, 2015
Les Mougiuels, Picpoul de Pinet / Torre del Falasco Valpolicella Ripasso
John, David and I had a first visit for food to Fern & Co post-Golf (congratulations Dave!). The layout is the same as the previous Wild Boar entity with the Decor ‘Mahoganied’ up in the Bar and Restaurant. Fern have recently changed the menu and made the pricing more accessible. Not a bad meal.
Les Mouginels, Picpoul de Pinet, Languedoc 2015
The white: very light, floral
– acceptable but lacking any depth though washed down my tasty Asparagus and Broad Beans, followed by the Sea Bass.
Torre del Falasco Valpolicella Superiore Ripasso, Cantina Valpantena, 2014
Cherries & Chocolate with a spicy sweet finish. A competent yet expensive Ripasso @ €38 from Cantina Valpantena in the Veneto.
l’Opera, Duca di Saragnano, 2015
Another bring from Dad from his local wineshop – Nectar.
Lots of fruit from Tuscany, very soft finish – a nice way to welcome in Summertime.

Paradiso Shiraz 2015
La Cavea, Pinot Bianco, Garganaga, 2015 in Capo
Uno Piu Uno, Puglia, 2015, Michele Biancardi
[categories Italy, Puglia, nero de troia, Primitivo ]
Produced in Cerignola near a very special part of the world – Gargano.
A concise list in the Linden Tree dining room at Carton House, this was chosen on the basis of perceived value in an otherwise expensive cluster. Big whack of vanilla, fruit and smooth alcohol delivery.
Domaines Arnaud, Syrah, 2015
A fruity flavoursome, lots of lush redcurrants in a firmish body. Rich colour.
Nice write up on Arnaud here: http://www.bbr.com/producer-1198-domaine-arnaud-ente
Domaine Filliatreau, 2015, Samur, Champigny
The 2014 was the first encounter with this red from Samur and the Filliatreaus don’t disappoint with the 2015 vintage. Open fruit, smooth yet earthy – you can taste the throbbing heat from the Summer sun.
Delicious.
